About Conchita Pineda

My artistic proposal is the product of reflections with creation, with life; a tiny event before the immensity of the universe, the relationships of chance, to chance, to the discovery of the idea and the action of creating in itself, and the transformation of the elements in time.  Currently, perhaps because of the chance of life, I have had to assume the role of political asylum, for a touch of that luck or good action of the universe I landed in Barcelona in December 3rd, 2014 at 9:35.  Development and creation work of the personal brand #matchtobehappy

I studied Architecture and Graphic Design at the Universidad del Zulia, in Maracaibo, Venezuela, with proven experience in art and design at the level of public and private institutions, working as a graphic designer for the Institute para el Control y la Conservacion de la Cuenca Hidrografica del Lago de Maracaibo (ICLAM) and be part of the team of graphic designers of one of the most important companies in Venezuela, Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA). 

Make the match as work of art

We are structurally like them: head, trunk and fire. They are and we are bearers of
light, they emanate energy to those who turn them on, life is an instant, life is a second,
the spark an instant, we all react to friction, our body ends when we give our essence...

In 1914, Duchamp created the “ready mades”, everyday objects separated from their
usual environment and presented by the artist as works of art. From then on, art was
no longer seen with the eyes, but with the mind. It turned out that beauty could be
elsewhere.

My work is related to the subject of chance, in the investigation I find that the match
was caused by an accident that generated a lucky event (serendipity). In 1827 Jhon
Walker was in his laboratory creating a new explosive, when removing a mixture of
chemicals with a piece of wood, he observed that a tear-shaped drop had dried on the
end of it, to eliminate it he rubbed it against the floor, causing it to light and thus the
match is born, one of the main inventions of history.

Several events of my life are tied with a magical thread that goes through time, in this
way in art this type of event is no stranger because in the creative process the
unexpected, error or accidents frequently generate character and interest to the work.
As a child I loved playing with matches. While studying architecture I was passionate
about the idea of ​​projecting the scale of small objects, I wanted to maximize their size.
Finally, in 2009 I launched this idea, I did not hesitate to choose the match as the
protagonist.
 
We are all matches!
